What features should be included in all
GPS Mapping Software ?
-
Map Matching giving you the
ability to correct GPS co-ordinates on the map if where the software
thinks you are starts to stray off of the road.
-
Motorway Bridges are always a
problem where you drive under or over a bridge and the software will
sometimes re-route you because it now thinks you're on another road.
The Software should be programmed to take into consideration the
direction you are travelling in which should help alleviate this
problem.
-
Long Re-Routing is where you
have a route planned which is 30 or 40 miles away, you've taken the
wrong road, but the Re-Routing algorithm tries to re-route you onto
small little roads to get you back on track with the road you were
on. In most cases you've taken a route in error, you don't
want to stop and turn around, you want to Re-Route from your current
position to your final destination.
