China Is One-Step Closer to Global Navigation Coverage

China has launched another pair of satellites for it's BeiDou-3 GPS system with a view to having 18 BeiDou-3 satellites in place by the end of the year. The Chinese BeiDou system, named after the Chines name for the "Big Dipper" constellation, has been serving China since 2012 and Asia-Pacific since 2012. The long-term goal is global coverage and less reliance on the US GPS system.
