TomTom GPS v3.03 - 3rd Party GPS Apps Work Again!

Regular readers will be familiar with the issues surrounding access to the BT Com Port that began after TomTom introduced v2.08 of their GPS Driver and remained in each subsequent update despite our many protestations.

In an effort to reduce issues with lock-ups when using BT GPS receivers TomTom had configured the GPS driver to reserve the BT com Port for their own exclusive use and whilst this reduced a small percentage of issues it had the undesired effect of preventing any other GPS application from accessing the BT GPS Com Port, not so great if you used other products such as Memory-Map etc!

I've lost count of the number of cries for help from users on Usenet and in these and other forums who wanted to use other GPS apps and there were a couple of solutions that could be implemented to resolve their plight. I'm delighted to announce that following a tip off I can confirm that the latest version of their GPS Driver, v3.03 no longer has this undesired effect and normal access is resumed for other applications!

The driver can be downloaded in .exe form here.
