US Electric Car manufacturer Tesla has announced a deal with mapping company NavInfo that means Chinese Tesla Model S owners will finally be getting satnav on that gorgeous 17-inch display panel.

Normally Tesla uses Google maps, but these are blocked in China so owners of the $75,000 to $105,000 luxury EVs have had no satnav as Tesla were forced to remove the feature.

Under the terms of the deal, Beijing based NavInfo will provide mapping data for the Model S which will also feature voice and text recognition as well as a soft keyboard and Pinyin input.

The mapping is expected to be available early next year with update 6.0.
