News: Galileo - 13 years late and three times over-budget

pocketgpsworld.com
A French auditors report has revealed that the European Space Agency’s Galileo satellite navigation program is now 13 years behind schedule and more than three times over the original budget.

A series of cost overruns have seen only 12 satellites launched out of a planned total of 30 and completion is now not expected until 2020 at the earliest instead of the planned completion date of 2008.

The original budget was US$5 billion but the report reveals that costs have reached US$14 billion.
