Does anyone know of a short cut on the Garmin Drive 61 which allows quick changes between 2D and 3D perspective? I've read through the manual, and played around with the device, but all I can find is the the long method of going into "Settings / Map & Vehicle / Driving Map View".

With my beloved old TomTom 730, it was a simple press on a particular area of the screen to swap between the two.

Simple answer is no. I can't really see the need either, most folks prefer one of the other and rarely want to switch rapidly between the two.

Thanks for that, I was afraid the answer was no.

I much prefer 2D view, I used that all the time on the TomTom. The problem I find with the Garmin is that the routing shown is not very clear in 2D compared to the TomTom. The Garmin 3D is not too bad, so I'd like to have the ability to quickly swap to that when in more awkward area's of navigation (Heathrow Airport for example).

I use 2D view permanently as never liked the 3D view as I find it confusing. I have auto zoom set to Off, so if I'm in an area that's getting cluttered I just tap the + button and zoom in further.
