Have a TT GO730 for 10 years, screen buttons have stopped working, have reinstalled back up, formatted the drive & installed new software, striped down device as well. Working fine when using 'Operate My Device' in TT Home, think the screen is past it. Want to change it but read a report in PGPSW some years back that TT wont let you install 3rd party poi's anymore ie: PGPSW cameras, does anyone know if this is correct ?

Correct

The last one that allowed third party cameras was the Via135 and others of that era.

TT blurb will go on about they do support POI's but not cameras with proximity/speed warnings.

Argos are currently advertising the via135 as still available and certainly when I input my postcode it shows as being in stock.

I think that the via135 was the last one that handled our database correctly.

The 135 was one of a bunch that were released at the same time and they were the last of breed, from Anita.

I don't have a list or date of them though.

I bought my Via 135 in April 2014, but it wasn't newly released. At the same time I bought a Start 25 for my sister, part of the same range. The only differences I've found is the Via 135 has bluetooth and the Start 25 doesn't, and I don't think the Start has voice control either.

I've just Googled for reviews and they date from July 2012 so its nearly five years old. I wonder how much longer TomTom will support it with free maps etc. Sad

Have you tried eBay for a new screen? Mine stopped working on my via135 and I got one from Poland for a tenner delivered. Worked a treat until I bought a Garmin Very Happy

No I haven't because I don't need one! I'll bear it in mind if I ever should though.

As you mentioned your Via 135, and that was what we were discussing at that point, I didn't check back to see if anyone had mentioned scren problems on a different device. Embarassed

So the answer is not to buy a Garmin, then it'll keep working a treat?
