TomTom have announced that Volvo will be using their mapping for their autonomous car system "Drive Me". The Drive Me system will be tested on public roads in Sweden throughout 2017 and make use of the HD mapping data provided by TomTom.

Volvo’s research project into autonomous driving will involve real drivers integrating autonomous driving into their daily lives on public roads. The first group of drivers will be recruited in Gothenburg, Sweden, with further pilot schemes organised in London and China.

Self drive worries me.

There has already been one fatality and there was a news item this week where a test self drive vehicle had to be overridden because it nearly drove into the back of a slow moving road sweeper.

The test driver said it was because a very slow moving vehicle on what was a fast dual carriageway was unexpected.

Exactly - the issue with self drive - the unexpected.

Ford have announced that they will be going straight to self drive with no manual override period CoPilot
