Garmin NAVI 2519 LM / 2589

Hi
My trusted Tom Tom XL has come to the ends of its life.
Am looking at a Garmin as in subject above, as I want to continue using GPS World speed camera alerts and TT does not allow third party POI'S.

Is this a good replacement. I read conflicting reviews on the Garmin?

Are the camera alerts as easy to download as they were on my TT?

Will the warning sounds for camera alerts delete every time I download updates as on the TT unless I copied the mapssetting.cfg file each time?

The nuvi 25x9 series will do what you want. Loading the speed camera files are different from TT, but once you're used to it take only a few minutes.

Many here use this special program http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=91951 but it's not necessary to do so. If you do buy a Garmin there are plenty of experienced users here to help guide you through the process.

No need to keep copying sound files either Wink

This is how the cameras work, using the simplest CSV download, on the Garmin:

Once you have it working the weekly download takes just a few minutes, if that.

You might consider a model with digital traffic warnings.
I think this is a very useful feature. indeed.

The suffix for the Digital Traffic models is xxxLMT-D. Well worth the bit extra it costs.

Does the Digital Traffic warnings require blue tooth or some as such, or is available just using the unit as it is.
Don't do blue tooth etc

No blue tooth required. Hurray.

Digital traffic is available as long as the device is plugged in to the car ciggy socket. The power wire acts as the digital aerial.

HI again.
I use Windows 10
I have downloaded the POI Loader
Saved to PC. now pinned to task bar
Selected C:\Users\Geoff\Documents to save file
Chose name for file (speed camera}
Selected Feet MPH
I then receive a message saying: There are no data files in that folder. Specify a file that contains at least one .csv or .gpx extension.
Any advice would be appreciated.

Have you downloaded the camera files? Have you unzipped them? Did you point POI Loader at the folder containing the unzipped files?
