The GO920 is a lovely device. I once tried migrating to Garmin - maybe I didn't give it a fair trial, but I hated it and took it back for a TomTom.

I run a GO520 and TT have said they will continue to work, just won't be able to get map updates - that does not yet apply to the 920, so maps will still be purchasable. I have craftily extended the map service (just hours before TT shut the door) by buying the 12 month AND then the 18 month update service, so I shall continue to receive new maps for another two and a half years.

You can do the same. In your place I would do that - that 920 is so much better than all the newest TomTom devices and you are already expert at using it. And just think what you're saving against the cost of some new, lesser device.

Thanks, Dennis. We may well do as you say.

How can I be sure that the two updates will run consecutively not concurrently?

Found it, but it's a bit of a PITA.
From map screen Hamberger ~ Change Route ~ Skip Next Destination ~ Skip. You can also Skip Next Shaping Point.

Believe me, I'm a septuagenarian! Very Happy

Because I did it. I bought a one year update in October, then (having read a warning here on PGPSW) the day before TT cut the service for my device, I bought a one and a half year update. They have always allowed a new subscription to tag onto existing one. My concern was that the October renewal had not yet started. So I sent off a support question and I now have an email which I shall guard with my life saying that I shall receive map updates until 19th May 2019.

In your case, there is no screaming urgency, so you can afford to do it using one of their discount offers, to get two 1.5 year subscriptions at VERY reduced rates. I really would go for that.

Yes indeed, Hamburger ... change route ... skip next destination works just fine on my 2599 lmt-d.

But my m8 has responded in the wrong thread.
He must be getting older.

Dales.

Just for anyone catching up with this thread, it appears the 'skip waypoint' option was introduced on the models released after 2013 as it's not available on my 2508. Unless anyone knows different?

Shame its not made it into a software update for the 2013 models Crying or Very sad
