This is driving me crazy. I have downloaded POIS in OV2 Format. When I look in the zip its become a PDF. I have looked on various sites for the answer cant find it. I have used several different sites to try POIS and it always saves as a PDF. I have tried right clicking the file to try to rename OV2 but it wont let me change it. Any help would be gratefully received. Kind regards. Alan MaC

What device are you trying to load the OV2 onto ?

OV2 is a proprietary TomTom format.

Are you using a Wiondows machine and don't have hidden files and extensions displayed in Explorere? It may be an OV2 file that somehow has been associated with (say) Acrobat PDF reader and thus appear to be a PDF file? I strongly suspect that this is the case.
But also answer Kremmen's question as well as mine.

Thanks both for replying.
Trying to load it on a Tom Tom Go 5000.

Im not sure about the hidden files.

When you go into properties on the PDF File it lists the title as my lpg 0v2 file

Cheers

On W10 Start ~ This PC ~ View
Then check "File name extensions"
This will show the filename extensions so that you can really tell the file type. Your "PDFs" will then probably appear as xxxxx.OV2 where xxxxx is the name that you normally see.

Hi I have tried that its in a POI Zip when you open the zip its gt the adobe symbol.

Description Adobe Acrobat Document.

When you try to open it its says Acrobat DC couldn't open as its not a supported file.

Gone into properties and the title is the OV2 correct title?

Mystery?

Thanks for replying.

Kind regards

Alan

Somehow your PC has associated zip files to Acrobat I would guess.

What you should be able to do is right click the zip file and one of the options should be 'extract'

You need to look up 'file associations' for Win10 (assuming I'm right)

Now that you've sorted out that lot, when you load them into your GO 5000, what will you do with them?

The question remains, when you load them into your 5000, what will/can you do with them. (TBH that is a rhetorical question because I fancy you will find the answer is "nothing").

Not only that, they have not gone to PDF format, you have re-associated them files with acrobat. That's not the same thing. I'd be surprised if acrobat opens them.

Back to Wednesdays post "not a supported file".

I ditched Adobe Reader ages ago and I use Sumatra PDF Reader now which is far lighter on resources and isn't Adobe.

I did use Foxit for a while but they started putting sneaky additional crapware in with the installation, pre-ticked as usual.

Afraid I'm back to square 1 on this.

I have gone into settings on Windows 10 and Files Associations. Found OV2 associated as adobe. Change comes up with a windows POI app which turns it into an atlas!

I have tried to download on OV2 converter/file opener and it downloads as a PDF!!

Mad this is. So I have all these ov2 s as pdfs I need LPG stations to fill up as I travel the UK.

Any thoughts on how to get round this PDF nightmare?

Cheers
