Thanks

What advantage does that have over CSV to GPX converter?

It gives directional warnings rather than all surrounding ones.

Guys

Unless I am on a wrong track, I was following your htm manual reference (post 5) in

Sticky: Directional warnings for GPX converter.

I use this and let's get things straight and define 'directional warnings'. Proper directional warnings only give you a warning if you are going in the direction that a non reversible camera is trapping. CamerAlert does this, as do Garmin's cams and iGO based nav software.
The 'Directional warnings' referred to in the referred thread HERE still gives warnings if the camera is pointing 'the other way' but the banner and voice warning tell you which way the camera is trapping, so, as long as you know your direction of travel, you know whether the cam will trap you if you 'inadvertently stray above the speed limit'.
It does not work to reduce the number of alerts (Kremmens CSV to GPX does that for adjacent cams). The two programs are integrated in so far as you can rul Dales' to 'directionalise' the cams and then Kremmen's to tag the message and banner alert.
The combination do not give you 'true' directional alerts as there is no device comparison between your heading and the cam direction to eliminate alerts from cameras trapping 'the other way'.
The file that you want is not CM3, but the one in the thread referred to above, which uses the CM3 PGPSW file download. I'll not put a link to the file here though in case it changes.
And you could try a bit of RTFM to help you understand.

M8TJT

Excellent! This makes it absolutely clear. Many thanks for this.

I agree that directional warning enhances the warnings and would like to try out the Directional option. So, my original question: Where can I find the Camera Manager link please (as mentioned in the htm)?

Many thanks

Jeez. It has been 'improved' and pretty much superseded by the program in the thread to which you referred and Kremmen's CSV to GPX converter. Dales' program just happens to use the download that was generated for CM3. CM3 download does not give directional warnings but contains the directional data needed to tag the cameras with N, S, E and W that the two programs use to give their aural and visual indication of the camera's direction on the Garmin device.
You cannot get Garmin to produce true directional warnings from user POIs

If you want to try out directional, read the thread to which you referred and the one by Kremmen on his CSV yo GPX converter, as that's the way to do it. You do not need Camera manager.

Yesterday I used Kremmen's CSV to GPX converter data on my Garmin whilst travelling on M25. I got warnings when I was near a camera but not the direction of the camera.

Do I need to switch a setting in CSV to GPX software?

This is hard work. Have you read and understood the instructions HERE and HERE?
You run the first progtam and then the second. The first downlaods the CM3 DATA FILE and converts it to the format requited by CSV to GPX converter. CSV to GPX converter will not give the 'directional' alerts on its own. You also need to put the directional voice files in the working directory.

Have you actually read the fisrt post in THIS thread? It explains what you have to do.

Managed the files and uploaded to Garmin!

Was trying to run CameraManager not realising that is was not required after all as it has been accounted for by the program now.

Thanks a lot anyway Smile Smile

Thanks M8T, I have been otherwise engaged with a roll of sandpaper.

My Converter on the base CSV files will produce a warning like:

"Gatso Ahead, Fifty Miles Per Hour" - this is regardless of the way the camera is pointing.

By first using the Direction Converter you will produce a warning like:

"Gatso Ahead, Fifty Miles Per Hour, North".

Garmin, in my mind, make third party cameras multi directional to guide people to their Cyclops cameras.
Cylops would be fine if they were up to date, gave a better icon than a tiny blue dot and a spoken alert rather than just a soft bong.

If Garmin did a trial period of their Developers Kit I might be able to see what gives but at $500 I'll pass.

I suspect the theory is that if you are navigating to a POI, it makes no difference from which direction you approach it. After all, it's designed as a POI warning function not a speed camera warning thingy.
Although, I totally agree, Garmin's speed camera warning presentation leaves a lot to be desired and would probably be easy to improve on if you could get at their code as well as you can in iGO.
Is the bong hard coded, or is it a .wav that could be edited?
