Latest Map updates

I have updated my 2699 using the Garmin Express. This was sucessful according to the software. However, if I run Express again, it asks me to update again. Is there an issue with my download or can I verify the map version?

Yes, via Garmin Express. It should show both the firmware and map version installed.

You can also check map version in Settings, Map & Vehicles, myMaps and software version in Settings, Device, About.

It's possible Express is telling you about a software rather than map update, although note if you didn't install the full map you're entitled to it will also say there is a map update available.

I have a similar "problem" with my 3590.

Every time I plug it in, GE tells me that there is a software update available, taking approx. 1 minute. It downloads in a few seconds and I am then told that I am up-to-date. If I unplug and plug in again, the same message appears.

An annoyance, especially in case there is a genuine, critical patch that I may ignore. Sad

Are you following the exact procedure?

Download and install the update
Unplug the device
Start the device whilst unplugged and wait for the main menu
Plug back in to PC again, with GE still running to complete

You never used to have to do the unplug sequence I seem to recall?

Sounds like the GarminDevice.xml file isn't being rewritten. Look in the Garmin folder on your nuvi, delete that file and then disconnect and reboot the nuvi, that will force it to recreate the .xml file.

Now Express should report it correctly. If it still doesn't it's possible it's an update for your traffic cable (if you have one). So the update won't apply until you run your nuvi with the cable attached and powered up.

I had the Update available message each time but now it is OK. Just had an update to Garmin Express though.
