Speed camera notification

My 2699 beeps twice when near a speed camera. However it also beeps at cameras on the other side of the motor way. My old TomTom gave choice to pick up traffic on route only. Can Garmin do so as well?

Garmin and Cyclops hold the secret to directional warnings. I've looked at both the topografix and garmin gpx schemas and neither give any clues to directional alerts.

There is a gpi to gpx converter over on another site but that tool is only available to fully paid up members. Whether it would reveal the secret I don't know. Even if it did, POILoader may complain.

My issue with Cyclops is it isn't as up to date as they would have you believe, plus, it only issues a soft 'bong' which I think is easily missed.

My solution isn't perfect but I find the voice warnings a far better alert even if half of them are not in my direction.
