Ireland Post Codes

Ireland (Eire) have now gone live with their post codes called Eircode. There is an interactive website similar to the Royal Mail one where you can see the codes and they appear to be house specific rather than to street level. Do we think Garmin will incorporate them into their maps eventually?

Garmin already accepts the Loc8 codes used across Ireland, and should Eirecode take off then I'm sure that would be implemented also.

As someone who lives in Ireland, I do not see Eircodes becoming part of the Garmin search base. Also, no-one is using them.

Eircodes seem to be randomly generated and the only way of locating a property is to have a live connection to the company's website. You are also limited to 15 "free" lookups a day.

It is ludicrous in that if you put just my name and Eircode on a letter, the postman cannot deliver it. He still needs the full postal address.
