Nuvi 55 LMT questions

Folks - I have a couple of questions regarding this unit

1. When I plug the unit in via official garmin usb lead to pc, it recognises the Nuvi but defaults to Mass Storage Device, even though I have selected MTP auto detect on the unit - how do I get it to default to MTP?
2. If I try to charge the unit with the garmin usb lead into a standalone usb mains charger it changes to normal start up mode but then says "the attached power cable can not charge your device. use the cable provided" - I am using the cable provided! Do I have to get a separate mains charger - if so an aftermarket one or a garmin one?

1. Does your PC meet the system requirements for mtp mode?

2. You'll get this message if there isn't sufficient power, and possibly also from non Garmin chargers. If it charges your nuvi you can simply ignore it.

I am running windows 8.1 with media player 12, so yes - any other ideas?

No, but I wouldn't worry, the first thing I did when I got my 2508 was set it to mass storage mode Wink

That MTP auto detect must be auto detecting something unusual and assigning a drive letter by default.

You can't access .system folder on later nuvis unless they're in mass storage mode.
