Mappoint/Autoroute had this.

It is a good feature because, like me, you may only chug along at 60 on motorways so the arrival time is fiction. Plus, as you say you can change the routing.

I have a memory of having a SatNav that had the ability for the user to set their most appropriate speed for each type of road, this technique enabled one to skew the resulting route to one's preferred type of route.

or

am I dreaming??

If I recall Mapsource used to allow you to set your own speeds for 3 or 4 types of road but that information was not used by the satnav which was limited by the map information and the garmin algorithms.

@sussamb
thanks for your offer but which junction is infomation that simply gets discarded as irrelevant since the "glitch" is just another irritation that is not worth the trouble of following up.
Given your overtly helpful nature and the level of your inside information should we infer that you are employed by Garmin?

You might infer it but I'm not Very Happy

I am a moderator on the Garmin forums though, and so have a link to some of the Garmin staff.

You're correct about Mapsource, which is still available, although like Microsoft's XP it is unsupported. You can also adjust your average speeds in Basecamp. Neither really help though as these speeds as you point out aren't passed to your nuvi, but nuvis do 'learn' your average speeds on various roads so the more you drive the more the ETA should accurately reflect your actual arrival time.
