Have you got the 'Custom POI' ticked?

Cold start, hold the power button down till it prompts you.

Must be looking in the wrong place.

I'm looking in Settings - Proximity Alerts - Alerts

Just shows Custom Poi's even though I have two gpi files in there both uniquely named.

Apologies then as I misunderstood you, the options there have always been just Custom POIs rather than separate categories, at least on all my previous nuvis.

Not quite sure what you're missing here, is the Up Ahead slide out not showing at all? If so go to Settings, Map & Vehicle, Map layers and tick Places along the road

No. The 'Up ahead' slide out is there OK and if I tap one of the icons thereon I get a popup list of the POIs to which they refer. What I am missing is the 'up ahead' POI icons (and no PGPSW or Garmin camera icons) from the map. I have no POI icons on the map at all. Everything else seems OK.

Yesterday I was asking how I got rid of the 'up ahead icons, but that problem has now gone away as I can't get ANY poi icons to show on the map.

I've got mine back with the places up the road option.

I think they only show, including cameras, when you are on the move. I've just plotted a route in the gps simulator and all showing ok

I think you could be right about moving. I thought that I would try driving past a cam in sim. Soon as I switched to sim. up popped all the POIs all around me regardless of the fact I wasn't moving, (petrol, knife and fork etc.). Switched sim off, still there. But I'm not moving now and I don't have a sat lock but still have the POIs. Can't explain what's gone on, but happy(ish) bunny now.

Now back to one of my original problems. The PGPSW cams form my dropbox do not have the blue dot or mobiles as expected. I will try loading my own again (without the bongs) and see what's what). It's so long ago that I have forgotten WTF I was doing in the first place. Must be an age thing. Very Happy

Right then All sorted. Not moving seemed to be the problem. All PGPSW cams showing. No blue dots. Found out how to get the knives and forks not showing. Thought that you had to have these on to see the cams Embarassed

Thanks for the help. I'll be back Very Happy

Hi,

Total Novice here, I just upgraded from a Nuvi 765 to a 2699 I have followed the guide at the start of this thread, conversion seemed to go seamlessly, loaded with POI Loader confirms load OK, look on device and in POI I have Garmin Speed Camera and PGPSW gpi files. In Proximity Audio I have Single Tone checked and in Alerts i have Custom POIs checked, went out to test, drove through a traffic light camera - no alert, then passed a 40mph Gatso - no alert. if I have both Garmin and Custom checked I get the Garmin Alert.
I cant get the PGPSW to alert at all. When I look on the map I can see no POIs Help in sorting this much appreciated please.

It's best not to have more than one camera file (gpi) on the go together as this confuses the results.

Move (not delete) the Cyclops files out of the way, to a PC, if you are intending to use the cameras from here.

If you have downloaded the speed zoned files and you have the three files for each camera type and you have the sox.exe in place then I can't think of any reason why you're not getting any alerts at the moment.

So you're not getting any icons or sound alerts ?

Does POIloader indicate that it has written a number of cameras?

One step at a time and we'll get there.

Thank you for the reply, I think its sorted now, I went through the process again then shut the Satnav down completely, restarted and the PGPSW icons are now showing on the map, I will take it for a spin in the morning just to check that the alerts are working and will let you know. Your guide was superb and very easy to follow thank you.

You don't need to go out to test the cameras.

Use the GPS Simulation mode and plot a route that will take in a known camera or 2 and just watch it from the comfort of the armchair.

Yes, having set your nuvi to sim mode do a where to and select the location you want to set, then hit the i icon, you'll see a Set Location button bottom left.
