Decided to try adding the database to TomTom 1.19.3 on my iPhone 3GS on iOS 6.1.6, using iMazing and need help/clarification please. Not straight forward as the guide is now out of date and anyway I cannot seem to get past the ImageShack icons.

So, after setting iMazing preferences (Storage) by ensuring all 3 boxes ticked, double left clicking on UK-Ireland folder icon in iMazing I get a 'Documents' folder showing which contains all the various TomTom sub folders and files. Is it this 'Documents' folder that I am meant to transfer the ov2 files plus the pgpsw-iphone-tt-1.7-iphone3 folder to? Presumably I then have to transfer the 'mapsettings.cfg' file from here to overwrite the existing cfg file in the 'United_Kingdom_and_Republic_of_Ireland' sub folder.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Hi mhb,

Unfortunately as I'm running iOS 8.3 on my iPhone I can no longer use iMazing (or any other iFile software), but I'll try my best to help you.

There are two stages involved:
1. Get the POIs (.ov2 and .bmp files) on the map
2. Get proximity warnings (with audio) working

For step one, you need to have the folder "POI", IIRC you may need to create this if it's not there. Then copy the .ov2 and .bmp files of all of the POIs that you want and they should appear on the map the next time that you run TomTom app

As for the proximity warnings (with audio), you can use the mapsettings.cfg file but I don't - I just use the CamerAlert app running in the background instead. I find CamerAlert much better for configuration of warnings.

Hope this helps,

Hi Privateer,

Since my first post I have spent hours using iMazing to put the ov2 and all the other files apparently necessary to get everything up and running to just about every location allowed (some files and folders are stated by iMazing as locked down), but all to no avail.

The best I have achieved, merely by putting just the 5 ov2 files in the existing empty poi folder and nothing more anywhere else, allows the cameras to display (although all types by the same icon) on the driving maps which is at least a step forward from merely running TomTom with CamerAlert in the background giving audible warnings but not showing on the driving maps.

So in essence I shall be doing something similar to what you suggest as the best anyway, namely displaying the camera locations and relying on CamerAlert for audible description and alerts.

Incidentally, many thanks for your response, it was most appreciated.

That's a good start. It's probably best to remove the files that you've added in any other folder other than the POI folder, if you haven't already done so.

If you want the Speed Zone complete, you will need to remove all of the speed camera related files from the POI folder that you've already placed there, as you may not get the full benefit because the wrong icon may sit on top of the speed/type icon.

I don't show "pMobile sites" on my map, therefore I have a total of 25 individual sets of files (just .ov2 and .bmp files) to show the speed/type of the site. If you want to show pMobiles then you will need to have more than 25 sets of files.

Don't forget that you can use you own or any other third party POI category in the same way.

Glad to be of help. Thumbs Up

Hi Privateer,

Only got back onto this today and as a result of your last posting I have finally succeeded in getting everything up and running as it should.

Being someone who has always prided himself as being very thorough, I cannot believe how stupid a mistake I was making. I have always opted to use the consolidated version of the camera database and I completely missed the fact that I should have been using the Speed zone complete version for the purpose of this exercise. Embarassed

In future I might still adopt your approach of using CamerAlert instead of using the .cfg file. I intend to try out both approaches before deciding.

Many thanks again.
