Hi

I am new to this forum and appologise if this is an old question but I cannot see any recent coverage of this issue.

When I first started to use Sygic I think it used to have its own forum for users. As often happens the responses from Sygic were slow but the user exchange was helpful. I have not used that forum for a long time and can no longer find it. Recent attempt by me to raise some questions directly with Sygic seem to have run into the sand and I can find no way of engaging with them other than by sending a query to their web site which promises to get back within 2 days... but then nothing happens.

So does anyone know how to ask questions of Sygic and get a meaningful response?

As I am here, the primary issue I was trying to raise was that under the previous version of Sygic I thought that it always showed the speed limit for the place you were. To me this was a very nice to have feature. However since the latest improvements I often find that there is no indication of the current speed limit. This can happen even after it told me that the speed limit was about to change and correctly anticipated the speed change. Once I pass the speed limit sign, Sygic may or may not show the speed. All seems a bit odd to me and quite disappointing.

I do accept that sometimes the speed Sygic quoted was wrong but then councils seem to change their speed limits so often these days, I suppose that is only to be expected.

Thanks for your time. Wink

New? You seem to have joined ages ago and have made 300 odd posts?

They binned it quite a long time ago. Probably because people kept banging on (quite reasonably) about Sygic shortcomings

I have had success Here but have had to wait several days for a reply.

Are you certain it's another damn thing they have let out. I haven't looked as I run the old version on my phone. I posted a link to the old version .apk in another Sygic thread a few mins ago.

Hi M8TJT.

I said new to this forum, not to these forums... Wink

I have posted a lot in the SatMap forum.

Thanks for the link which took me to a page not available and then on to the standard Sygic help page which is where I have sent my previous enquiries from. Maybe I will just have to wait and see how large a number "several" turns out to be....

I may look out the link to the old apk but I suspect that this one is more likely to be to do with the maps than the app, as it does show the speed limit most of the time (i.e. more than 50% of the time) but certainly not all of the time.

Thanks for the speedy and positive response. Smile

Should I get to hear anything useful from Sygic I will aim to post back here.

Thanks again for your post M8TJT but all I get from that is:-

There is no help desk configured at this address. This means that the address is available and that you can claim it at http://www.zendesk.com/signup/

Which does not look like a good sign. Sad

Strange that, as the first link I posted takes me straight into my Sygic account logon page, and then to my questions.

Hi M8TJT.

I have been puzzling about that and wondering if I had been infected by some misdirecting software. However I have checked and that does not seem to be the case but I have now noticed that the link you quote ends with a "." which looks a little unusual.

If I take the link as you posted it I come up with the odd Zendesk response but if I take away the "." then I end up just where I would expect, with the Sygic help page.

So I think it just comes down to you correctly ending your sentence with a full stop and the forum parser interpreting it as part of the URL.

I have still heard nothing back from Sygic and am not even bothering to ask why it tried directing me via a 30 minute extension to my route home last week!

I said I would try and update this thread if/when Sygic responded. They did today.

The gist of the reply appears to be:-
- Sorry for the delay we are overwhelmed with questions at the moment.

- Have passed your questions on to the "product specialists and they will discuss them with our Research & Development department".

- Speed limits are not down to us but our map suppliers..... keep an eye open for updates....

- Thank you for your understanding.

They also say if I still have questions I can go back and ask but I have decided that I will just wait for some updates and hope that they arrive soon. If they do not the I may look for another product ....

Sygic will make promises and never keep to them, they are like a lot of other companies out there to make money by bringing in new features and not fixing bugs.

Not tried it for a while but do they still have the stupid entry bug where typing a location and if press delete and continue typing it brings back what you have deleted

Also no cut and paste - so can't bring in addresses from other apps

Sygic 15.2.5 does show the road speed limit as usual, its a quarter way down on the right hand side.

I agree with aj2052 that it does show the speed limit sometimes, but often it does not. Sygic have confirmed that this is a recognised fault. They have also told me that there are a major set of bug fixes due soon. I just hope they do come soon and that they fix a lot of bugs or I will continue with the alternative product that I have adopted in the interim.
