Embarassed I see how its done.
When told to take the third exit, look for a road sign with road numbers, work out the road I need, find the lane I need and use this + counting exits to keep me right.
Sorry, my mistake. Old habits die hard. When I was driving on three continents it was without satnav and road numbers were the only way.
I need to embrace new technology, or go back to my old TomTom as it worked out road numbers for me. Both Garmin and TomTom have lane guidance for some but not all, major junctions.
From your postings I see that you are a nice, helpful guy, so lets leave it be. You defend Garmin and I think it is flawed in this one serious issue.
For the record I thought Garmin was excellent and I was gutted about returning it. Anyone reading this can make their own mind up about urban driving without road numbers.

This is one area where my built in SatNav is excellent. What Honda/Alpine do is show you a graphic of the roundabout and a clear picture of the angle of your exit.

Then when you have passed the last exit it repeats "next exit". Very clear and precise.

On my previous Civic the graphics were fixed so the roundabout road exit picture was approximate but on this latest unit they have managed to provide degree perfect pictures.
