Just wondering - if you are embarking on a medium or long route - say 50 miles+, how does traffic work when you have avoidance set to automatically re-route you without asking? If it detects a delay that is quite far away from you but still on your route, does it route you around the delay right from tyhe start of your journey, even though the delay may have gone when you actually get to that part of the route? I think Garmin units used to do this (I think my old 1690 did) but do the newer ones still do this? Could be a real issue when setting off on long journeys? I guess the only answer is to leave the unit set so that it asks you if you want to be re-routed because of traffic?

I have mine set so I can choose as you suggest. I'm not sure what would happen if you'd been rerouted due to a delay some distance away and that then cleared, or indeed how close a delay needs to be before your satnav even considers re-routing, which is why I prefer to choose myself.

The only time I've seen a definite route change was due to roads being closed, then re-routing kicks in whether you've set to accept changes or not.
