Strange Garmin decision.
Volume wise, I've toned the voicepack from here down a fraction to equal the navigation volume. _________________ Satnav:

Hi Guys,
UPDATE: 29th September 2014
Thanks to the help of our members, I'm now making positive progress in making my new 'Nuvi 3598 LTM-D' talk my personally created alerts. Brilliant
I've only done one csv at the moment as I been in our "Hospital's Day Surgery Unit" today and I'm a little groggy from the anaesthetic and feeling quite sore.
To 'jump the gun' and shout 'Eureka' would be too foolhardy as I've got more experimentation to do in the next couple of days. I will of course feed back all my progress to our forum here.
UPDATE 2nd OCTOBER 2014
I believe the correct version of SOX.exe was the solver, I too, like Kremmen, cannot understand why Garmin, as a major provisioner of quality equipment, fail to integrate a secondary piece of software like sox.exe into their POILoader after all these years of knowing it's effectiveness.
Let's not spoil the cake Garmin.
For example, TomTom, at the moment are playing silly beggars with some questionable constraints on their new devices and have consequentially lost many customers, myself included. Many high profile forum members support this analogy too, hence their exodus from TT.
Cheers,

|
|
I have recently bought Garmin 3598 and tried loading PGPSW camera POIs onto it. Here's my experience
1. Originally the icons were too small so after trawling the forum I found larger ones. Why dont PGPSW supply them this size?
2. PGPSW supplied MP3 sound files which didnt load. However (Helpfully?) after doing some more trawling I found a URL which took me to a PGPSW page which then gave me links to Sox file and the Audacity app which I then installed. Then I had to run the app convert MP3 files and export them to the POILOADER folder as .WAV Mono 44K files.
Once I had done this I ran the POIloader app. But it gave errors ie '.wav is not in the proper format'
So what have I learnt from this experience.
1) Why have Garmin made it so difficult to load personal POIs? - I suspect they, like Tom Tom, want to sell their own eg Camera POIs
2) Why do PGPSW not supply icons and sound files that will load? If they want to maintain their market it must surely be in their interest to do so. Surely they would only do it once which is far better than us(the poor end-user) having to do it many times.
3) Is there somebody out there who has produced sound files that work with the a sox file and can post them in a server somewhere?

Garmin haven't made it difficult, it's actually quite easy. However with the PGPSW files I don't bother with the audio warnings. Kremmen does though and he should be along shortly to explain what you're doing wrong. _________________ Where there's a will ... there's a way. |

PGPSW do provide all the icons and sound files required. I got all mine from here.
If you can't find them then post back and when I'm at the PC I'll post links. _________________ Satnav:
