Installing maps via Basecamp won't install stuff like junction view, which is why you're not seeing them. I'd try again using Express ... worked fine on my nuvis. |
Mm... I didn't know that, thanks. My recollection is that Junction Views appeared before GE was available but perhaps I am mistaken - or maybe it was removed from whatever else installed them previously.
That means I'll have to try again with GE and hope it behaves this time. |

I really liked my Garmin when Smartlink traffic was working. Not being able to perform a full reinstall like you can with Windows has rendered mine not fit for the purpose it was bought for and is a pain. _________________ Satnav:

MapUpdater which was replaced by Express also installed a new jcv file with a new map. It too allowed download to PC but again maps installed from PC by Basecamp to a nuvi were just that, maps. Junction view, voice and any other files aren't included which is why it's really necessary to use Express or MapUpdater. |

Well I have still have MapUpdater so I'll try that - if I can stop GE from trying to manage it all. |

MapUpdater to update maps and WebUpdater to update software still work. Express is designed as a 'one stop shop' to do the lot.
How long MapUpdater/WebUpdater will continue to work is anyone's guess |

Indeed. Guess it will be back to OSM maps for me when that happens.
I only have one machine that has Windows here and that's XP.
The only use I have for Windows now is updating Garmin maps. I have neither the inclination nor the funds for a current Windows version plus the new hardware required. |

I'm all linux here.
I managed to reinstall maps last night and I have a new .jcv file though won't be going anywhere to test for some time. At least it's looking better.
MapUpdater would not accept my Product Key so back to GE.
GE showed an error early on but I had no choice but to continue, completed in about four hours including install to device.
GE then sat there 'Configuring'! Configuring what? I shut everything down and went to bed.
I wonder what surprises I'll have on the next update.
Thanks for the help |
