Should be able to do that with your 2547.

Do a Where to then in the box top right select search near and select your favourite or whatever. Then for POIs near that tap on Categories and choose the category or whatever you wish. You'll then get the searches around that location.

Same as the previous nuvis. Once in simulator mode open the map and tap where you want to be then set as location.

You've lost me there, do you mean while you're actually driving with a route already active on your satnav?

no just sitting at my desk Very Happy

if I select settings, navigation, gps simulator = on. Then if i look up a town the only choice I have is to navigate to it..cant see it on the map unless I scroll through it serching which is a pain......all I want to do is search the town for nearby campsites to plan the route Confused

probably something simple but i'm to thick to see it

OK, with the simulator on then ...

Do a where to, then Categories.

Type the town in the top right hand box (I'm using Bath as an example)

Now the screen should say in the top right box Searching near Bath, Avon

You then have two choices. You can if you know an approximate (or even exact) name of what you want type it in the top left hand box. As you type the nuvi will start to populate the line underneath to help you narrow down your search. At any time you can tap one of them. I started to enter C A M then tapped on Camp & Caravan sites and got a list of them in the Bath area, listed by distance from the centre of Bath.

Alternatively scroll down through the category list on that screen rather than enter anything into the top left box. I scrolled down to Lodging, then selected Camp and caravan sites, and got the same list as in method one.

You can do the same if you've set your location as Bath. Only difference is when you tap the right hand box select 'Where I am now'

When I am planning a holiday on my 2598 I turn on the simulator as sussamb has suggested. I csn then check out a day's journey. It will plan a route. When satisfied and ready to look at the next day the first step is to Stop the active route. Then search for that first day's destination, just as you did to plan that day. Hit the info button whkch will show a small map of the destination but MORE IMPORTANTLY will offer the option "Set location" which does NOT appear if there is an active route. Having set the location you can move on to plan that day. Repeat for as many days as you want, always remembering to Stop sn active route before trying to Set location.
