install usa maps on garmin nuvi 255 w

help please i have a 2014 usa maps for north america and i want to install them on my garmin nuvi 255 w i have a g map img file i copy that to my sd card which is formatted in fat32 when you then look at the maps on the device and look for an address it is only showing me united kingdom what do i need to do thank you

Where did you get the .img file from? Which map is it?

I downloaded the img file from the web
the maps are 2014 north america nt maps

i Have managed to similar maps i think it was 2010 i got similar maps and was able to use them

when i went into the settings for some reason uk maps were ticked even though there are no uk maps on the device
