Hi Kremmen,

CSVC doesn't recognise some of the .bmp files in the 22x22 and 24x24 folder because they have file names eg specs_20.bmp. Changing them to eg specs_Twenty.bmp solves the problem.

Very Happy

When I examined the code it's something that should have come out of the woodwork earlier.

Hi, thanks for all the work your putting into this app, very usefull.

Can you explain about the redspeed separation please as it does not seem to work for me.

I have v2015.12.07.23 of the app, and I can see the redspeed entries in my pocketgps_uk_gatso_30.csv but once processed I do not get a redspeed.gpx file generated.

regards

What sticks out immediately is the 'pocketgps' prefix for all the CSV files. Once you have downloaded the zip file, use the program (database options) to unzip the file as that also performs some necessary processing that a Windows unzip won't perform.

My screendumps show what the filenames format should be.

FYI there is a newer version available with a version of 2015.12.xx nothing major, just a cosmetic redesign.

.

I normally manually unzip and process the folder that I unzip to. It still works as expected, its just your new feature that doesnt seem to be working.

OK, I have run your app on my main PC and I can see it does now create the redspeed.gpx, it needs the csv files to all be renamed as per your layout.

What it does is looks for specific filenames to separate out the RedSpeed data. What I need to do is wildcard the search and act accordingly.

On my list .......

After manually renaming the files I now have 8 redspeed gpx files. Thanks again for your efforts and support.

Hi Kremm,
I'd better bring things together here, I think.

When I was testing the directional warnings for Ash10, his first version WAS for 8 (plus null) points of the compass (times all limits up to 130 for overseas, times 3 camera types, and plus a handful for redlight). This gave a sizeable output file, and meant you had to be careful not to use subfolders or PoiLoader would choke.

Ash10 decided just to use the 4 main points of the compass, to reduce all this overhead, and I think he was correct.
The warnings are snappier (N or E rather than NE) and only rarely are you in any doubt whether the warning applies to your direction of travel.

I make that a theoretical 280 gpx files Confused

Currently it's about 42 ?

My main issue is swapping data from speed zoned to something else.

Well it depends how you break things down.

At present I have 110 categories in theory (of which 103 gpx files are used in practice on my Garmin).

These are the 7 speeds (20,30,40,50,60,70 and null eg var)
times the five directions N, S, E, W and null
times 3 snappers (Gatso, Mobile(incl PMobile if selected) and Specs (incl TSpecs)).
Equals 105 plus 5 Redlight/Redspeed snappers (without distinction for speed or direction).

Total 110 categories, easily handled by all my Garmins past and present, including handheld, as long as the files are in the root of the camera folder to keep PoiLoader happy.

If you were to aim for 8 points of the compass, that would give
9 directions (including null) by 7 speeds by 3 categories plus 5 redskins
equals 194 in theory.

You say you are worried about swapping from speed-zoned to something else. Well Ash10's app simply downloads the PGPSW database in total, raw, unsorted, and does the sorting and analysis locally. If that's what you mean??

Simplicity is best, I think, if you can resist the siren calls from those who want more categories for different types of snappers. And, as said, in my experience of using them, I think 4 compass points is enough, and eight would nearly double what is already a large file size.

Dales.

Just a heads up for anyone using this app with a Kenwood H/U. The image files need to be changed to 256 colours rather than the 8bit else they will not display the icon on screen.

Thanks Dales

I want to retain the current strategy of using the Garmin speed zoned file set as they have been tested to destruction and work well.

Therefore what I can investigate is adding some additional user triggered processing, for those who want it, to produce alternative directional named files. All I have available is the compass points to work with. The problem here is that NE for example could be nearer to N or E or do I produce NE.

Based on that and my example Gatso_fifty set above, is it achievable? The subsequent gpx files would all be in a single folder, as now and depending on the types required could reach the 280 area.

My thoughts are to read the Gatso_fifty and output the 8 files, suitably named, depending on direction then remove the original file.

By the same token is NNW closer to N or NW?
If you want the degrees, the data is in the iGO download in .txt format.

Hi M

You've got the source code. Look in the create_gpx module and see what you think. Changing the input file structure whilst maintaining the status quo is a major change.

I'll have a look later, but after updating VB (or whatever it's called) I couldn't get it to load with any sense.
I was just thinking of the iGO download to do a comparison job on. Not overly seriously though.
