Just about to take delivery of one of these.

I wondered if anyone has any idea of which unit this is based on, & also which camera database format is used on the units and how to install it??

Any help appreciated
Mike

Wouldn't it make more sense for this to be in the Navigon section as the unit is branded as a Navigon even though it is sold/marketed by VW??

Quite possibly but as you made no mention of Navigon in the initial post the this will be why Paul moved it here - because it is, as well, an in-dash device.

Navigon don't allow 3rd party speed camera databases so I would guess that it's not compatible.

OK my mistake for not mentioning it is a Navigon unit in the 1st post.

Their web site suggests you can add your own custom POI's though with CSV long/lat info and jpg flags for them so surely that would suggest you can??

That would certainly suggest that you can, but you need to know the format of the *.csv file and the *.jpg icons. Any ideas?

Have a look at the MyPOIs section of this. I don't see any mention of Proximity Alerts.

OK so its .bmp or .png not .jpg, but you can get the locations added as POI's on a route, you just have to manually list them & can't get a proximity alert as per Garmin/TT et al.

BUT

You guys don't have to jump down my throat just for suggesting there may be a way of doing it Sad , I had quickly RTFM and spotted there 'may' be a way to do it. Just hadn't had time to read it all in depth!

It works fine for me. Use the Other - CSV database and make sure that you remove the 1000 POI limit from the M+M.

The Up /Mii and CityGo (and the latest SEAT Ibiza) are available with a Navigon 70/71 Sat Nav that doubles as the vehicle information system as well (ie mpg / temp etc) and costs the best part of £300 quid.

It says in the instruction books that you can add your own POIs using their FRESH software.

Be aware that the latest update of FRESH has removed that option, certainly on the SEAT version as I have just found. I'm awaiting an answer from Navigon on whether there's a way around this problem.

Just wondering what anyone has found out re user-installed POIs in the Navigon device. I've just bought a VW UP and it would be frustrating to be stuck with the "official" POIs provided by Garmin after having enjoyed the up-to-the-minute ones from PGPSW.
