Hello you clever lot big smile !!
Right i have a tomTom 510 that DID have Europe on it the guy I bought it from had it updated all was fine for the past 2 years taking me all over France on my holidays until last month when new French bypasses got me lost and so I found the box thought I would go on tomtom website get a map update ?
plugged it all in and yes update available
when complete it just said no maps available ? so tried the old sd card and it works fine on that but lost Europe ? seems the Europe sd card is not official gggrrr
so bought a Garmin 2445lmt as it says free map updates for life now I have just found out you cant have French camera warnings and spent the last 5 hours trying unsuccessfully to find out how to remove or disable them any pointers to a big dummy guide on how to do this please gents ?

If you BOUGHT a new Europe map for the TomTom, I don't understand why you didn't persevere and get it working, as you are perfectly entitled to it.
What the original owner had done should no longer be an issue.
We could in all probability have got it working quite easily, or if not you could have insisted TomTom sorted it out for you.
Now, on to your actual question....
To make your Garmin legal in France, you just need to update the camera files. That will replace the French camera alerts with alerts for "Danger zones" which *are* legal.
