Maximum Waypoints on Route

Hi all

Is there an maximum amount of way points I can have on a route ?

I am need to upload approx 16 routes to my active 10 for a long bike ride approx 1100 miles. Each route is approx70 miles long and has around 1000 waypoints. I seem to remember uploading a route once and getting an error message about the route having over 500 waypoints on it.

Obviously don't want to over load the active 10 but also don't want to reduce the waypoint to decrease the effective of the over lay on the map.

Would really appreciate any views..
