Hi Folks
I have had Tomtom PNDs for several years and generally get on well with them. However since I have a smart phone and have added the PGSW camera alert to my phone I thought I would try something else. I downloaded the Navigon software to my Android desire phone. My TT is a Rider running the 9.2 navcore and the latest maps
Running the two side by side in my car shows some quite interesting differences in their operation. I feel the Navigon system for input of new destinations is not as intuitive as the Tomtom, there is no support for 3rd party POI and on the android platform far fewer option. The Navigon is far quicker to update the route when you deviate. I like the way it gives you the optional routes when first planning your destination. Much better for normal use than having to decide before the plan is made. I find that it uses locally many of the roads and routes I would, where the TT tries to send you via the trunk roads even if that is majorly out of your way.
I feel that the Navigon on a smart phone is a very good alternative to a dedicated Satnav, and much cheaper too!
