Having used gliding navigation programs for some years on PDAs and PNAs, I would point out that the suction mounts as shown and supplied are not a good idea if you go high. They can drop off due to the decreasing air pressure, and if re-attached at height, there is a risk of cracking perspex windscreens as you descend. Not a problem though if you only go up to 2/3000 ft.

Good point. Difficult to know what other options are practical if you are renting though?

Did you get a chance to check the accuracy of the altimeter reading? In my experience (microlighting) the height given was often a bit iffy.
