Over the last few years we have been following the technology of map making with both Teleatlas and Navteq. The latest enhancements to the map data collection is laser collection of 3D data points. Using modified survey vehicles Navteq use LIDAR technology to collect a Laser Point Cloud of the road side structures enabling direct injection of 3D datasets into the map data.
In our video Cliff Fox from Navteq describes the data collection process. _________________ Mike Barrett
