Try a hard reset followed by a soft reset and run clearflash a couple of times.

I had similar problems on my XL LIVE but 9.024 is running fine as long as I don't try to use TTS.

I had to do all the resets otherwise all kinds of odd things were happening - remember a lot of settings are stored in the flash memory and it appears that going from Nav8 to Nav9 that is intended for a different device can have all kinds of strange results unless all of the settings and temporary files are cleared.

Excuse my ignorance but the only reset I know about is the one on the underside of the unit.
Is that the hard or soft reset ?
How do I do the other type of reset ?
Clearflash - it rings a bell but never done one ( I don't think Question ) , can you point me in the direction of a description of how to do this .

Thanks for the link for the Clearflash.
One question though - Reading the TomTom page it says this:
Note: After running the TomTom Clear Flash tool you may need to activate your map again. You need your Product Code card to activate your map
Where will I find this Product Code card they talk about ?
Is it something written down somewhere in all the bumph that was in the box when I brought my 730T ?

Soft Reset - I am still none the wiser as to what that is from your description ( I realise that it is probably me being a numpty Confused ) but can you explain in laymans terms how I do one on my 730T.

In fact, Andy.....
TomTom refers to a 'pin reset' as a 'soft reset' (I guess that includes holding the power button for those models without a dedicated reset hole)
TT refers to a 'hard reset' as 'restore factory settings'.

Clear Flash is just, well, Clear Flash ... Laughing

Fair point!

Don't worry about the map activation bit, that is for older models.

The Clearflash tool doesn't delete any files from your 730.

As for the soft (or hard in TT speak) reset, it is normally on the last page of Change Preferences - probably called Reset factory settings. This will clear all of your favourites, home address and recent destinations as well as language and voice settings etc.

I am going to give it another go.
Will try a couple of Clearflashes then a couple of ' pin in hole ' resets and see how I get on.
Really could do with staying away from the hard TT reset if I can help it as that will mean a fair amount of work to get back to where I am.
A thought as I type this , would doing a hard TT reset remove all of my PGSPW speed camera information ?
Because if it does I am DEFINITELY going to give it a miss. Shocked

Not really best described as "hard" and "soft" reset.
I would say:
Reset (a paperclip underneath or hold the power button) . Basically just restarts the program. Doesn't change any settings.

"Return to Factory settings" (from within the software menu) -
From an old topic of mine, here's what a "Return to factory setings does:

Recent Destinations
POI Warnings
Itineraries
Map Share corrections


It seems to remember:
Safety Preferences
User POI's themselves (the files are not deleted. In fact it comes back with them ALL selected to show on map)
Brightness Preferences
Speaker Preferences
Start up and shutdown screen


So that's quite a lot to re-do!

True, my descriptions weren't brilliant, but my thought process was that a hard reset was like a cold boot of a PC, otherwise a stnadard power down is really like Sleep or Hibernate on a PC.

A soft reset is resetting all of the software settings.

Anyway, by now it should be as clear as mud which is which Laughing Out Loud

If you aren't prepared to risk having to wipe your TT and having to reset to factory defaults then my advice is stay clear of experimenting with alternative Navcores and stick with what HOME offers up.

Then again, HOME has a habit of wiping all of your favourites on map upgrades every now and then ........

One feature I have noticed with the 9 NC on the 940 is that in map view you can additionally choose if your selected to show POIs are shown in 2D & 3D maps. If shown in neither 2D or 3D the warn when near POI function seems intermittant, sometimes it they all work and sometimes they all don't.

At the moment as long as the Live Services servers are running OK it otherwise is quite useable. It still has the old bugs of the screen not updating from time to time and when you go through the menu to HD Traffic the unremovable reminder that you could also click the traffic bar. I like the way it also shows the extra delay due to normal busy traffic from IQ routes.

Yep - the new interface is very good, apart from the powerpoint on steroids (stole that from someone else) transitions

I like the new way that traffic and route summaries are displayed - it looks much more modern as the Nav8 interface is getting a little dated now.

Shame that it doesn't appear to be getting rolled out to anything other than x50s at the moment though.

I too am having the same problem with Navcore 9 on 940: -

Warning: There is something wrong with your SIM card. Please contact TomTom customer support.

Error Code: 1008

Everything else works great though!

The SIM card error message occurs when you try to access a Live Service when a network connection is not established.

(Is there something wrong with this forum as I am finding TT Live Services easier to use at the minute?)
