pocketgpsworld.comPioneer have developed an integrated navigation and multimedia system that will be offered as an option on a range of VW, Seat and Skoda vehicles from July.

The snappily named Navgate AVIC-F9110BT has a 5.8-inch WVGA touch screen display with 2Gb of flash memory. Mapping is courtesy of TeleAtlas and comes with 3D landmarks, Text-To_Speech Voice Guidance and 1.7 million POIs.

TMC is built-in for traffic bulletins and the the press release also mentions 'Clever features also assure accurate guidance in areas where GPS coverage is compromised' which we can safely surmise means a connection to speed sensors and possibly a gyro as is common on factory-fit systems.

The F9110BT offers integrated multi-media with the ability to play media files from SD card, USB, DVD and CD and full support for MPEG4, DivX, MP3, WAV and AAC formats.

The device also offers iPod and iPhone support and even integrates a Parrot Bluetooth hands-free wireless module. Other features are the ability to add POIs using Google Maps via the SD/USB connections, extract driving style and performance reports although it is not known whether the device offers speed camera support.

It's certainly a well specified device and ticks almost all the boxes.

We don't support Avic. They use a custom filetype which we cannot, as yet, reproduce.

In fact the camera database does work with the F-series Cool

These units run iGo software, I have the .txt version of the speed cam database imported into my AVIC-F9110BT already Smile

Just put the .txt file on an SD card as \poi\speedcam\speedcam.txt and it should be imported when the card is inserted.

iGO usually compiles the speedcam data from the .txt file on the next restart after the .txt file has been put in place.
