Vexia have announced econav, a new satnav brand that aims to not only navigate you to your destination but to do it in a green, economical fashion. Aiming to reduce CO2 emissions Vexia calculate that the average driver will save enough money to pay for the econav unit in the first six months.
econav works by calculating the most economic route and the most economic driving style. You input your car and fuel type and number of passengers and the system will choose the most economic route and whilst providing advice on optimal gear and acceleration via the display.
We are all painfully aware of the cost of fuel and now more than ever we are finally considering fuel economy seriously. If econav lives up to its promises you could save an average of £400 a year in lower fuel consumption.
“Fuel costs and carbon emissions are huge concerns for today's motorist," says Chris Hobbs of Vexia UK. "The environment and the economy are consistently high on the news agenda, and econav addresses both of these in a way that couldn't be more straightforward. Using the econav system, drivers can make cost savings and have a significant effect on the environment without even thinking about it - driving efficiently can become an everyday routine.”
With Garmin rolling out ecoRoutes as an update to some of its devices recently it appears likely this functionality could be come much more commonplace.
Priced from £159.99 inc VAT, econav will be available from March 2009.
econav's UK website is now live at www.vexia.co.uk. _________________ Darren Griffin

Hello Darren, have you been able to get a look at one of these yet? Will our camera database work on it? Having suffered with "Stuttering Kate" for the last three months, it wouldn't take much to make me go for it. _________________ TT Go 720 (T)

And we have finally received a review unit. I'm finishing the review at the moment and it will be available this weekend. _________________ Darren Griffin
