I'd be delighted to discuss the merits of Mac's. I only switched to Mac a few years back having run an IT consultancy specialising in Windows based PC's for some years so have seen it from both sides of the fence.

But it's not a discussion for this thread or forum, if you want to discuss it can I ask you start a thread in the Off Topic forum area here.

Sorry Darren, I was just replying to the previous poster, not trying to start a PC V Mac debate, as you say, it's not the place for that.

Wasn't a complaint so no need to apologise Smile

Hi everyone.

I stumbled across this forum whilst browsing for mapping software, I've found a couple of apps for Mac which may be useful, hope this helps!

Explain please?

I'm primarily a cyclist and for me the main deficiency of M. Map is that I find it tedious composing routes. I prefer to have a fairly detailed track to follow, mainly because on a bike I'm moving faster than on foot and have less time to interpret the displayed route.

Sorry for the delay in answering this one, I have only just found it again!

Within the application is the Explorer view, it is in this section you can manage all your walks, Routes and GP data from the device(s)

The window top left displays each of your routes which can be stored in various user definable layers, this way it is simple to locate the Route you want and select it, very handy if you store lots of data on the PC.

Top Right is displayed all the waypoints within the walk you select, each of the waypoint names can be altered should you so desire, clicking on any single waypoint will snap the map cursor to the position on the map.

Finally the window at the bottom allows you to adjust various properties of the route, these parameters include visible true/ False so you can de-clutter the map, the colour used to display the Route on the map along with loads of other options. - I haven't found any options for Cycle route planning within the application though - Mike

I've been using Quo for about six months now and love it! I did have few problems (due to me tinkering with settings) and phoned them for some help and advice. I have to say their customer service is something others could learn from! They were so friendly, helpful and patient (thanks Mohan and Grega). Look out for some really interesting Satmap functionality from them in months to come too by the sound of it! Smile

I'd have to agree, Quo works very well and I like it too. They have also responded to my support queries very quickly and resolved them all.
