A question that seems to be appearing more often is about the TomTom Speed Camera installs on the devices, these POI files were certainly installed on my Go-910 when I purchased it last year.

There are a number of reasons to remove these files from your device, the major one being that they occupy 38% of the available Custom POI places you have for your use.

The TomTom version 6 software permits 100 custom POI’s to be loaded, these (often redundant) files reduce the number of custom POI’s you can install unless they are removed first.

This short note details where they are, and if you want to remove them how to do it.

First of all please back up your device.

Now dock the unit to the computer, when the TomTom device seeks permission to connect to the computer simply tap the Yes button. Once it connects the TomTom Home application should start up.

The TomTom Home application is divided into three main sections, this screen capture is from the left side of screen, you need to select the “Delete from TomTom” which is highlighted in turquoise once selected.

Shift your attention to the right side of the TomTom Home application, there are a number of main categories:

Application
Maps
Points of Interest
Voices
Zip Codes
Satellite imagery
Itineraries

Make sure the Points of Interest category is expanded as shown below.

The TomTom Cameras (if installed) will show as above, to the left of each camera POI is a check box, select each one and press the Delete button which is to the lower right of this screen capture.

The 720 has slightly different files as shown below, the basic instructions remain the same, but the camera file names differ.

Satellite imagery

Make sure the Points of Interest category is expanded as shown below.
