Try

http://www.gns-gmbh.com/en

to see if you can locate a product.

Then you may be able to source in the UK if you want or buy direct.

I saw a discussion about one of their different products that rated them higher than Mitec's own. Dont know what they are like to buy from though.

Good luck

Chris

The TMC product page on their web site has the most accurate TMC coverage I have ever come accross! - at least it looks like they understand the UK - Mike

On that site (which appears to be listing the items from the Autoleads catalogue) most are adapters (for fitting different head units into cars), and only 1 was an aerial splitter (and only supported DIN car aerials). It also wasn't amplified, which I thought you were after...?

GNS produce a range of splitters, designed for TMC use, and therefore they support a range of car aerial connectors, and a range of connectors for splitter spur.

I thought the din to din aerial amplifier - was an amplifier for this purpose that could be used inline before the splitter. pc5-91.

Regarding the GNS cables, what is in the bulge in the GNS splitters - its not an amplifier as there is no power to it - so how can it not have loss when splitting the cable? (also I wanted din type plugs which they I couldn't see on their website).

If the cables I have ordered don't work I will have to try something else.

Ah yes, I missed that - it may well work (the antenna booster). And strangely GNS don't seem to list a DIN splitter cable.

My excuse for not noticing this is that my new car using the FAKRA Connectors, and hence I'm always looking for those (and I've been amazed how few products support FAKRA).

There will be some loss with splitting the cable - if you want a fully lossless solution you need a separate aerial just for TMC (or the Hirschmann Combo Antenna that mikealder uses), but that may not be an option for everyone (company car, too much disruption fitting it etc.)

The GNS cable may well work better - I could always use converters to DIN cable ends or even change the ends over. I think it uses a balun by the look of it and after all it is purpose made for a TMC receiver so should work. Maybe it should be used as the TMC aerial isn't a coax so needs the balun to convert the signal.

Yes a separate aerial would be another solution just awkward to route the cable from the car roof to inside, without drilling holes.

I have ordered a TMC splitter for a GNS TMC receiver.

See this link. http://www.lowestonweb.com/products/info.asp?e=EBC4DECD-78DA-420E-9895-BE76D54D7A8C

Cost = £29.95 incl VAT & P&P. Cheaper than from GNS and you can pay on line rather than send a cheque to Germany.

Hope this helps.

I ordered the antenna splitter on Moday PM. It arrived yesterday and I have just fitted it. It is brilliant! We are on the fringe of the Capital FM area and it is now receiving it at full signal strength. I have spent quite a few hours tapping in to the car aerial loom and trying other things and its really not worth the effort. The splitter has a balun which matches the car aerial to the TMC receiver - seems to make all the difference.

It comes with both ISO & DIN aerial connecters. All you need is key(s) to remove the radio. When not in use the aerial lead coils in the ash-tray out of sight.

Lowestontheweb (Evesham) still have 29 in stock (£29.95) so it seems to be a well kept secret. GNS are charging 58 Euros and you have to send a cheque up-front.

I hope this helps.

What is the connector that feeds into the TMC module, please? It looks like a stereo jack plug.

Another question does it reduce the normal car radio signal at all?
