In most Street Navigation products there are usually one of two Geodata providers used around the world. These are predominantly NavTech and TeleAtlas.

Until recently you have always had to report any map errors direct to the company that you purchased the software from, e.g. TomTom or Navman you would report direct to them and they would at some stage pass on your map errors to the relevant geodata company they use for their products.

However, you can now notify these companies direct by visiting special pages set out by NavTech and TeleAtlas.

NavTech
http://update.navtech.com

TeleAtlas
http://www.na.teleatlas.com/tomtommapreport.html

Currently most PDA apps will use NavTech maps apart from TomTom or TeleType who use TeleAtlas. Navman will also be using TeleAtlas in the new year on several of their products.

You can still post map errors in the following threads:-
Compaq iNS
CoPilot Live
Deluo Routis
Destinator 3
Kane CarPilot
Mapopolis
Navigon
Navman SmartST Pro
TeleType
TomTom Navigator 2

You can still post places that are not in the database in the following threads:-
Compaq iNS
CoPilot Live
Deluo Routis
Destinator 3
Kane CarPilot
Mapopolis
Navigon
Navman SmartST Pro
TeleType
TomTom Navigator 2

I think it would be a good idea if everyone who has posted an error in the TomTom errors thread, re-submit their errors via this website. Maybe we will end up with a more accurate product as a result.

I think so too Chris. It's certainly worth trying this. Some problems are more easier to report with graphics though, and I'm not too sure how they will be able to handle these, but certainly a posting back to the forum thread may help.

I'd also like to make it clear for anyone else posting to this thread, that this thread

IS NOT HERE FOR POSTING MAP ERRORS, PLEASE CONTINUE TO POST MAP ERRORS TO THE RELEVANT APPLICATION THREADS.

This is good, very good.

Now on to something of a more personal interest. Cameras, digital cameras.

Does anyone have any advice?

I seek something not too grand - I would not like to whimper too much if it was scratched or marked or squished a bit while lumped in the rucksack or dropped on rocks or ...

I had my heart set on a Samsung Digimax V4 but I read that the video option spec is not too great. It looks like a Pentax Optio S4 might be more fitting.

Any views out there in cyberspace? Personal opinions would be really helpful too.

I suppose this is strictly non-GPS stuff - but hey! it is a compliment to the open views expressed and experience shared on this site.

Besides, I can't find a camera forum that comes anywhere near as good as this (if u know what I mean)

Dave,

In November you gave an e-mail address for TeleAtlas for the submission of incorrect map data, unfortunatly this has a required field which only allows the input for US, Canada or Puerto Rico As I live in GB this is not of much help - do you have another addressfor TeleAtlas?

I also noticed that TomTom has a blog to report problems with maps. The link is:
http://www.tomtom.com/support/index.php?Language=4&TT=4u31gctt5ehse3qvhhruggp732
Since they work with Tele Atlas, they probably communicate with each other to correct the problem.
