Good Day fellow Sat Nav users. I have be given a Tom tom G500 for Xmas and very happy I am too. I have installed version 5.4*** as the software and wanted to use the PIO Capture software on your site. This unfortunately does not work which is a shame as I have spotted a couple of cameras that are not listed in the update least released 21 Dec 05! What should I do? Any ideas as I would like to contribute to your community with theses updates! Please reply with ease as I'm a new fellow and want to make a good impression! Regards, Peter

Hi Rydell,

Welcome to the forum and congratulations on getting a TomTom GO 500 for Christmas! Thumbs Up

TomTom website wrote:
This update (5.420) is not suitable for TomTom GO devices running applications based on the TomTom SDK (Software Development Kit). The SDK uses application versions 5.202 or 5.203.

We strongly recommend that you make a backup of your TomTom GO memory card before you install the new application.

As you can see, version 5.420 is not compatible with applications based on TomTom’s own SDK, which POI Capture is. You say that you installed 5.420, so presumably you were running 5.202 before. In that case, if you made a back up then you can just restore and you’ll be able to use POI Capture.

Regards,

Thanks for the reply to my topic. I received the Tom Tom G500 with software version 5.2** but then I saw the upgrade on Tom Tom site and upgraded to the new version which is 5.4** Please could you point me in the direction of the older software so I can down grade my Tom tom to allow me to use the Capture POI software? Thanks

Okay thanks for the reply! Do I just copy and paste the files onto my SD card within TomTom after backing up original?
