On my tomtom one "navigate to gps position" is grayed out even with signal.

Any thougts on how i navigate to a position of which i have the co-ordinates and, if this is not posible, why is the menu feature even there?

It only becomes highlighted when you have arrived somewhere but not home, basically I think you can use it for saving as a favourite for future use when for example you have passed a speed camera or at a poi which is either new or incorrect in the list you already have.

Hi Colb

"Navigate To" shares it's menu with "Add Favourite". As it doesn't make much sense to "Navigate to GPS position" (you're there!), it does make sense to add your current position as a favourite so you can get back there later... I've used this before when I've dropped someone off somewhere I didn't know and they said "Pick me up here later". So, just go to the menu, click "Add Favourite" and "GPS position" and that's it - saved until I need to go back...

Hope that helps

Greg

The 'GPS Position' icon relates to your current position.

Because of the dual use of some of TT menus some selections are not valid all the time.

In your example, you would not be able to Navigate to your current position, as you are already there.

However, in Browse Map, if you select GPS Position the Map display will show your current position and then you can use this information to Add as Favourite, Add as POI, or Change Home Location.

As it stands you cannot Navigate to Lat/Long.

ah, now i understand - i clearly misunderstood what the feature was.

It does seem a shame that you can't navigate to a specific co-ordinate, assuming the resources are already there on the maps anyway.

thanks for your replies!

You can use external applications for the navigation to Lat/Lon.

on tom tom itself?

I'll describe the situation i had;

I had to go to a location but it was unclear as to where it was, and not marked as a POI in tomtom. It was, however, on autoroute, from which i obtained the co-ordinates which i was hoping to enter into tomtom to get me there.

regards

Yes, the TomTom GO and TomTom One can run external applications too. I believe somewhere on pocketnavigation.de I have seen a Lat/Lon plugin.

doesn't matter - just create those folders.

Beware though - you need software version 5.202 to run external applications.

Ok, stipid question - how do i actually update (or in my case roll back ) to 5.202

I tried replacing the files but it just causes the one to lock up at the splash screen?
