So how does this differ from the other models of TomTom GO?

Certainly if the £270 price tag is correct it makes it quite an attractive proposition compared with a TomTom GO 300 or 500.

Have you seen my post here?

The primary difference is a SiRFStarIII chipset and the lack of a dock interface system so power and antenna leads would need to be manually connected to the ONE.

It does indeed make an attractive proposition, we haven't received a review unit yet so cannot comment on whether the speaker is as loud as the GO's but the new form factor makes it far more portable.

Whilst it's intended as a budget model rather than direct competition for the 300 I suspect it will in fact take sales from the 300 as well as other budget alternatives.

What are the implications of those things? Is a SiRFStarIII chipset good or bad? Does it matter that leads would need to be connected to the unit rather than a dock?

I'm looking into buying my first sat nav soon, and with the TT One coming out, I now don't know whether to get the TTG300 as I was going to, or wait for this one.

Also, while I'm here, does it matter hugely that the 300 doesn't have ASN? How important is it?

Cheers.

SiRFStarIII = Very Good. Its the best GPS chipset available.

As for the dock, well it's naturally easier to simply dock your GPS rather than connect to the mount, fiddle around trying to find the power cable and attaching that etc but it's not a disaster if it doesn't have it.

No. A lot of users turn it off anyway.
