Does anyone know of a Windows Program to Extract CAB files from Pocket PC self installing EXE files?

I found File Juicer for Mac.

http://echoone.com/filejuicer/
http://echoone.com/filejuicer/formats/formats.php?f=cab

The reason is not everyone uses Active Syc to install programs. I know someone that would like to upgrade TomTom from the UK bundled v4 to v5 via
http://www.tomtom.com/support/rightnow.php?Page=http://62.250.17.58/cgi-bin/uk.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=3361
(notice it's a .exe install and doesnt have a CAB!)

I'd like to create or find a .cab install for TomTom v5 upgrade. Maybe I'll have to find a MAC friend to run this for me.

Most other companies offer programs in both flavors (.cab or .exe) yet TomTom didnt! Sad

simply run the setup file, it will extract the CAB files for you.

When you run the setup.exe it launches a full program and wants to directly interface with ActiveSync.

I dont think this update package is the normal self installing .exe type file we are used to seeing. I think it directly updates/overwrites files via activesync (some script?)

Run the Setup.exe and look for yourself. It creates a number of folders, amongst them nvapps, which contains the CAB files.

You can also use WinZip to extract the files but the Setup program is much more convenient.

ok, I found 6 files in:

C:\Documents and Settings\user\Local Settings\Temp\WZSE0.TMP\nvapp\app

gps.cab
gps.ini
PIMAddIn.cab
tnn.cab
tnn.ini
wzd.cab

How should I insure the update goes smoothly if I copy the copy the 4 cab files over? How do seperate ini files come in to play?

cool, thanks!

If I only use ttn.cab will I still get the contacts plugin though?
(where you can tap and hold a contact and "show on map" or "navigate to")

What are the other three cab files for?

Again this is for the imported UK iPAQ HW6515 (intergrated GPS)
It comes with TomTom v4 pre-installed

awesome, thanks for your help!

I like the pim addon feature in my contacts.
Is it known to be buggy or you just dont like it in general?

Also, Any clue what wzd.cab and gps.cab might be for?

It's known to be extremely picky about the way you record the address in Outlook. TomTom still have to understand the subtle differences of international address formats.

wzd.cab is the today screen plugin, and gps.cab is some weird DLL for the Bluetooth stack that doesn't seem to make a difference so I removed it again.
