It's a problem with the file called Great-Britain-Map.cfg and it has the Read Only attribute set. This means that you cannot write any changes to it.

If you Copy the file to the PC you can view the attributes by Right Clicking the file and Selecting Properties. Then UN-Tick the Read-Only option and OK out.

Copy the modified file from the PC back to TT5 and when asked if you want to Replace the file, Click Yes.

Oldboy,

Firstly I'm a newbie, so be gentle with me! I'm using TT5 on an ipaq 2210.

I found your post about the loss of favourites from TT5, having lost all of mine yesterday. I've copied the Great_Britain file containing maps to my PC via ActiveSync, unchecked read-only and then copied back onto the SD card, again via ActiveSync. However, after doing so (and it does take quite a long time) I then tried to run TomTom, only to be greeted with "No maps found!" Any idea where I'm going wrong? Am I copying the file from my pc correctly? I have simply copied the folder marked Great_Britain but should I have opened it and copied all of the files before pasting on to the SD card? Sorry if this a dumb question but.....

All suggestions, however simple, gratefully rec'd. Thanks

The .cfg file is in the Map Folder. This is the only file you need to copy. You will need to be able to see file extensions to positivly identify the file.

You will have to delete the cfg file in the Map Folder as Windows might not let you over-write it.

To get over the 'No Maps Found' I believe the correct procedure is to do a soft reset.

my tt5 forgets all home and favourites, as wekk as speed cam alert settings, also hangs on poi capture, i found that it seems to be when i use Kingston 1gb SD card, problem not as prolific with kingston 512mb card, still happens though, and ok when using CF card.

ipaq 2210 and latest tt5 updates

And when you exit TT3 or 5, do make sure that it is closed before hitting another program. Also, be sure to exit TT when you have finished using it, ie when you get home. The PDA should not be powered off, BEFORE exiting TT, pretty important I am led to believe.

I am losing favourites twice a week now and it's becoming frustrating. I've followed the above advice although my map appears to be called Great_Britain_plus-map.cfg [about 2.06KB in size]. Copied file to PC but it is not a read only so I can't uncheck that box and copy it back. thought I'd got the solution here, but still need help please.

Just checked the cfg file to see that it is on the SD card still, and it is dated today, now I'm really confused!!!

Thanks for that link

I need to check whwn I turn off then, but I always [or at least I thought I did] shut down the application prior to turning the Ipaq off. I do like the idea of saving favourites into POIs though, that seems to be a sensiible and more robust solution. Must try it.

Just a foot note,

I save all my favourites as poi's when using the dreaded sd card, however, i have now run for 1 week on CF card, saving favourites, poi warnings, and checkpoit, guess what !! not a single data loss or glitch,

the sd cards have now been well and truly formatted for the digicam

I have TT5 running OK on my XDA2i with a 128MB SD card. To enable storage of favourites etc I have write enabled the map file as detailed on this thread.

However, I still can't add or delete POIs on the move. Often I would like to add a new POI or even delete an old camera location. However, I always get an error.

Is the POI stuff held in another file which also needs to be write enabled?

Thanks
