Has anyone found a way to convert ViaMichelin's .poi files to .asc ?

I've tried all sorts of things - even downloaded the demo version of MapSonic, only to find that POI Manager will convert from .asc to .poi but not the other way round (unless I've missed something!).

Any ideas anyone?

Regards,

I'm not sure whether this is the same application (POI Edit) you are referring to but I use it convert the camera files to ones that Mapsonic will read

http://www.poiedit.com/

You will also need to resize the icons from 22 x 22 to 16 x16.

I posted full details of the whole process to this forum a while back

Thanks, elan2, for your response.

POIedit will convert from most formats (but not from .poi) to .asc. POI Manager (a ViaMichelin MapSonic product) will convert from .asc to .poi which MapSonic uses. I need to go the other way (from .poi to any of the other more common formats).

I've already spoken to Dave of Dnote (author of POIedit), and he doesn't know the format of the MapSonic binaries.

Have you managed to convert from .poi ???

Noel

Well, I wrote some prety easy program for editing POIs of Michelin and saving POIs to asc file. If you would like to try it, you could download the program from http://www.ludik.cz/igorp/files/POI.exe

beware.. the address is case sensitive. I tested this program in XP only.

Thanks, igorp!

It works beautifully - straight out of the box. A resource that maybe you might want to pass on to PocketGPSWorld for storage in the archives.

I've also tested in in Windows 98, and it's OK in that.
