If you use this paid or unpaid service are you aware that you have only one way of using it and that is via the Firefox browser. Even using that the ordinary computer user will find difficulty in enabling the NPAPI plugin support which is disabled by default in the latest Firefox browser.

The reason is, is that Satmap are still using old (what the techies call "deprecated") software that is called "Silverlight".

Silverlight was the Microsoft equivalent of the now infamous and rarely heard of "Flash". Microsoft gave up support for it years ago about the same time as they stopped supporting Windows XP

I seem the only person bothered about this and would appreciate all assistance to pressure Satmap to update this ancient and only just working system. Satmap have told me for over three years that they are working on an update but is this true?

My concern is that from being a wonderful bit of British designed technology our brilliant Act 10 & 12 are likely to be dumped . Certainly unless urgent action is taken Xpedition mapping software will not be usable by any of us.

Regards

Russell

Interesting observations, Russell - I have just come from a planning session, using Xpedition on Safari, where it is relatively simple to turn Silverlight on for use by the Xpedition domain. For a number of years, I have been happy enough to use Xpedition, both on IE at work and on Safari, when at home, however, another issue has just arisen, whereby I can't add text to the various sdialogue boxes, such as the route Save dialogue box, thus making it impossible to name a route, other than the default Route X! Although I haven't contacted SatMap yet, I dare swear it's an issue to do with Safari updates and I'm fearing SatMap will be unable to help. I am used to SatMap being behind the curve with regard to Mac users, and it has tested my patience before, and continues to do so! (I have to update my SatMap Active software at work...)
The OS planning site, at under £20 a year, is starting to sound more and more tempting...
You go on to suggest that Active 10/12 units "are likely to be dumped" - what exactly do you mean by this and what evidence do you have for your position?
