Hi

I have recently moved from TomTom to Garmin in order to be able to continue to use the PGPSW camera warnings.

My new device is a Drive Smart 50 LMTD.

When a camera warning starts to play the Garmin will sometimes give a spoken direction before the camera warning finishes so I get something like:
"Warning Gats..In 300 yards turn left".

The TomTom would queue the announcements and allow the camera warning to complete before starting the direction instruction so I would get "Warning Gatso 60 mph. In 300 yards turn left"

Is this normal for the Garmin or have I got a setting wrong somewhere?

Paul

No it's normal. If it didn't you'd end up missing the turning Wink

Edit the WAV files.

Do you really need the 'warning' bit for example?

Although that might partly effect a 'cure' by making the cam warnings shorter, surely it won't completely overcome the 'not queued' problem, or will it?

The cam warnings do queue behind each other but Garmin's directional voice alerts do seem to have their own priority. As Suss says, needed to give the turn info at the right time.

"Bong Bong - Warning, speed camera ahead fifty miles per hour, bong bong"
"You should have turned left 100 yards ago" Laughing

Just checked mine, in the download package.

No before or after bongs or chimes.

"Fixed speed camera fifty miles per hour"

That won't happen because the nav message override the cam message and you just lose a bit of the cam message.

I think he was implying that would happen if the cam message wasn't truncated Wink

Thank you all for your replies.

I have shortened the message to "Bong Gatso 60" but sometimes I just get the Bong.

It may be due to the Text To Speech directions that the Garmin uses. My very old TomTom didn't do TTS and it never interrupted a camera announcement, if some other TomToms do interrupt camera messages then perhaps they are also using TTS.

I don't suppose the Garmin can do TTS announcements for POIs?

If I have the best possible solution available on the Garmin, which it appears from your replies that I have, then I will just work with what I have.
