I've done a search but still can't find the answers to my questions so here goes !
is the 40 LM any good , I've read conflicting reviews some good some very bad
is it slow to give directions , and does it sometimes take you on a roundabout route as a few reviews say ?
are the Garmin speed cameras worth using and do you have to subscribe for the updates ? do you have to plan a route to get them to show [warn ] , and are there voice warnings or just beeps ?
I am more interested in using the 40LM for camera detection than for nav but still want the nav to work well, and does the software work ok on a MAC !
halfords are selling it for £75 on clearance just now so would buy at that price , if its any good
I've been on the Garmin site but couldn't find any of the above information !
thanks
bob

Good I'm afraid is subjective, the 40 is one of the most basic Garmim models so don't expect many bells or whistles. However it will accept speed cameras from here, which are better than Garmins own. Both need a subscription. No need to have a route chosen for them to show. Garmin speed cameras just give you a tone warning, the ones from here can be made to give spoken warnings.

Thanks Sussamb ,
It really annoys me how little information there is on the manufacturers web sites !
Would any of the other , cheapish models be any better ? 2529 lmt-d or 2519lm
I've always had Tom toms , but you can't put the pgpsw cameras on the new ones I believe
