Initially used the link from the Camera Download
Now used your link
Followed each step.
I created a file onto an SD card though.
The speed camera file downloaded automatically to Downloads. I pasted and copied to the SD card.
Completed the POI Downloader using the SD as location of files.
Not sure what I finally did ask I was getting a bit lost and before I knew it I had an option to copy the files to Garmin and retain them on the SD card.
I now have all the pocketgps camera files showing in Custom POI's. Is that it, will they now work?
Is there than option to only have alerts when using a planned route as on Tom Tom? Or is that a default
In Proximity Alerts do I check the Garmin safety camera box as well as the Custom POI's?
Can you customise the warning signs and distance from camera you get an alert?
I read somewhere you should turn off Garmin voice alerts. I have done so in the Proximity Alerts.
Do you have to have the End User Licence and Agreements pop up at each start up?
Hope it will be easier when I download the next update.
Is it the same procedure for future updates? Or are there any short cuts.
Could you copy and paste the update onto the SD card and then also drag and drop the unzipped camera file into the speed camera file, found within the Garmin POI folder maybe.

Really appreciate your time patience and assistance
Thanks

If you have ticked the Proximity Alerts for the PGPSW cameras, they will always produce warnings, whether you are on a route or not.

(It does help to be on a route, though, because you can then see the Traffic data for all of the route).

Yes, I would turn off the inferior Garmin (Cyclops) warnings, otherwise you'll get both sets of warnings which isn't desirable.

You can customise the warning distances with Kremmen's CSV converter. There is a sticky post where it is available and described.

You can ignore the Garmin Agreement and it will soon go away (only to return the next time you switch on).

The raw camera update file (downloaded from PGPSW) belongs on your PC (not on your device or its SD card).
Running PoiLoader is the way the data is put on your device (or its SD card).

Dales.

Sorry to be a pain but I have mental medical issues that make it hard for me on matters like this. No laughs please Laughing Out Loud
Attempted to update the latest camera update today. Downloaded the new update to POI Loader.
Opened POI loader
Next
Select Save POI to PC
Next
Folder where files can be found is shown as E:\speed camera
Name is speed camera
Next
Told files successfully on PC
Open up E drive and the file is 15-014 this week’s file is 15-021 so the file did not update. I continued with the process never the less to see if the rest run OK
Connected Garmin
Started POI loader
Next
Selected Garmin device
Next
Removed old POI (Checked the Unit and under categories custom POI. They had been removed)
Next
Opened POI Loader
Next
Device Garmin unit shown
Next
Installed new POI (Checked the Unit and under categories custom POI.They Had been reinstated)
Next
Folder where files can be found is shown as E:\speed camera
Name is speed camera
Told successful putting files onto Garmin. Of course though they have not been updated to 15-021

I really appreciate your time. I also have an irrational fear of getting lost and committing motoring offences which is way a satnav is so important so as to enable me to get out and about

First thing - delete last week's file 15-014 from everywhere you have put it. It's not needed any more.

Also, remember that the raw camera update file (downloaded from PGPSW) belongs on your PC (not on your device or its SD card).

Your step-by-step guide is linked on the first page of this thread, in Kremmen's post.

In PoiLoader, you don't need to select Save POI to PC. Just select Save POI to Garmin Device.

Dales.

At last all is well
I have written down the process so as to remember it. Once I have done it a few times I am able to recall it easily from my memory
Thanks again to you all

Good result then. Did you find out what you were doing wrong, so that you can avoid the pitfall in future?

Not really. Just deleted everything and started again. Cant remember how many times I have done this. Everything is now ok though.
Without a forum like this I don't know what I would have done.
At one time I was just going to give up and just subscribe to Garmin cameras, but I trust GPS World downloads and have been using them for a number of years.
Thanks

Hi
Don't panic,Laughing Out Loud, all is well.
I did have problems downloading the latest camera update to my Garmin.
Kept being told the were no files in folder Speedcamera I had created on E drive. Although they were there.
Hope I am not teaching you how to suck eggs
I use Windows 10.
Deleted all files from E Drive
Went to Downloads where the camera file was. R/H clicked on the file and selected Extract All. Selected E drive to send the file to.
Opened E drive where all files were, and created a new Speedcamera folder and then dragged all the files into this folder.
Then I opened up the POI loader and used Speedcamera as the folder, and the files were T/F to Garmin OK.
A little different from the tutorial
Info may of use to somebody

No need for all that. If you unzip the files (you did unzip the, didn't you?? Because you didn't say you had) to the folder that you have made the 'working' folder for POI Loader (in your case E:\Speedcameras) it will just work.

"selected extract all" sounds fairly close to unzipped to me Laughing

Having said that though, 'extract all' does tend to create a sub folder and extract them into that.
Watch the 'path' it's extracting to and adjust as necessary.

Normally you just need to remove the final \xxxxx\

Hi
No, the first attempt I did not unzip the file. Personally, I don't think the tutorial makes it clear the file needs to unzipped.
I must have done it last week I suppose.
It did dawn on me that as the file was on E drive and could not be found that it needed to be unzipped. One of those light bulb moments.
As it has been said, ''extract all'' sounds like a Microsoft unzip prog.
Its something I wont now forget to do.
Added to my ''how to do list''
Renewing my Pocket GPS subs next month. Cheap at half the price.
Thanks
